Abstract
Although it is well known that women agriculture labourers are among the poorest members of the rural populations in the country, the relationship between regional improvement and the incidence of female agriculture labourers is neither simple nor straightforward, The presence of an Impoverished rural population in a region may be the result of agro climatic factors such as poor rainfall, irrigation or soil quality; it may also be due to high degree of land inequality and landlessness in a region where agricultural labourers (as a proportion of the female population, or as a ratio to male agricultural labourers) are likely to be more numerous in the former or the latter case, is not an easy question to answer apriori.
