Abstract
Given India’s current demographic trends, DAY-NULM assumes great importance in harnessing the demographic dividend, especially among poor households. It is important to increase its coverage across all towns and cities.
Achieving gender equality in India could boost the GDP by $700 billion by 2025, representing a 16% increase over the current contribution. At present, women contribute about 18% of India’s GDP, significantly below the global average of 37%. This indicates a vast potential for growth if gender gaps in employment are addressed. [Read More]
