Inequalities Reinforced? Social Groups, Gender and Employment

Abstract

In the post liberalisation period, female employment has remained a matter of puzzle with contradictory trends and patterns, especially when one looks at the macro data.   Much of this confusion has been on account of the interconnected nature of female employment with other social parameters, which are outside the realm of the standard labour market analysis.
