Woman forced to undergo abortion 14 times, kills self
Abstract
Days after a 33-year-old woman allegedly killed herself in southeast Delhi's Jaitpur, having been "forced to undergo abortion 14 times" by her live-in partner in a span of eight years, police have booked the man on charges of rape, forced abortion, and abetment of suicide. The accused is absconding.
Police confirmed that the woman's body was found hanging inside a house in Jaitpur on July 5. She was shifted to a hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead. Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Esha Pandey said they were handed over a suicide note and viscera by the doctor. "The suicide note stated that she had been living in with a person called Gautam Kumar Singh for eight years. He had entered into a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. He, however, had now refused to marry her and left her with no other option, but to commit suicide," Pandey said, adding that a case was registered at Jaitpur police station.
"The stool used for hanging and the deceased's mobile phone were seized. After a preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the woman had been living separately from her husband for the past seven-eight years," she said.[Read More]
