Report of the High Level Committee on the Status of Women in India.

Abstract

The mandate of the Committee was massive, to assess the status of women in India in all aspects of their lives, keeping in mind the diversities (class, caste, religion, ethnicity, region, abilities, age groups etc.), complexities and paradoxes that prevail in our society. The Report assesses  that there has been progress on certain fronts like education and political participation of women in local governance, notwithstanding the Constitutional guarantee of gender equality, a plethora of laws enacted, policies and programmes framed and implemented.
