Abstract
The study analyses the policy framework of urban poverty alleviation schemes at the Union, State (Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and undivided Andhra Pradesh) and Municipal level, to understand the responsiveness of policies and budgets to the needs of marginalized urban children in the age group of 0-8 years. Interventions under sub-mission II of JNNURM and Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY), the two key programmes financed by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA) form the fulcrum of the research. The analysis has important insights to offer, and provides recommendations for improving the living conditions of young children.
