A Life Behind Bars : An Exploratory Study of Female Prisoners in Central Jails of Assam

Abstract

The study on condition of women in prisons was undertaken with the aim to explore the living conditions of female prisoners in Assam. It is the duty of the state to provide due benefits to female prisoners. The study examines the barriers/gaps in the existing prison system that bar women from exercising their entitlements and access to justice.
