Gender and Governance at the Grassroots: A Study of South Delhi Municipal Corporation's Budgets

Abstract

The present study aims to analyse budgets of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) from the perspective of adolescent girls and women. It assesses the schemes and budgetary outlays for the sectors of health and education, and functions performed by SDMC that have a bearing on the safety of adolescent girls and women, namely sanitation and street lighting. In this regard, the study aims at understanding the various interventions undertaken by the SDMC for the welfare and safety of adolescent girls and women and budgetary outlays for the same
