Abstract
The birth rate in Kerala has shown a slow but steady decline particularly in the last ten to twelve years. It has come down from 37.4 in 1966 to 27.3 in 1975. Through it can be attributed to no one single factor, nevertheless the role that family planning efforts in the state might played in bringing about this decline should have been considerable.
