Development, Patriarchy, and Politics: Indian Women in the Political Process, 1947-1992

Abstract

In India, as elsewhere, women's development has to be related to national development. This is no mean task, as the problems of women are not uniform. There are marked differences by rural and urban residences, occupational and gender role diversities across  caste, class, and community.
