This report seeks to study the condition of women in prison in India and inform
action for improvement. An attempt has been made to build understanding on
the entitlements of women in prison, the issues faced by them and the possible
methods for resolution of the same.

While talking about law and homosexuality, I am reminded of a story of a washerman and his donkey. The donkey refused to move with the heavy bundle of clothes on his back from his house to the pond. The washerman nailed a carrot to a stick, which was tied in front of the animal's mouth.

The tribal population groups from 7.95 percent of the total population of India. About 67.76 million persons have been enumerated in the country (excluding Jammu & Kashmir) as members of the Scheduled Tribes (1991 census).
