The Study highlights the national level parliaments and critically review quota designs,
practices and experiences of women parliamentarians on both quota seats, as well as
general seats. In this action research project, experiences with quota designs, challenges

Scrutiny and control of women's sexuality and women's reproductive role by the state are well recognized in the history of societies [Sarkar 1993]. Tribal wars over possession of women were rooted in the struggle for survival of the tribe itself.

It is necessary to draw attention to the tradition of over legislation in India. In the 1980's and 90's there has been focus on various issues in the women's movement, especially on legislative reforms. The result is the highest number of laws on violence against women.
