Abstract
Despite an early and strong commitment by the government to the family planning programme, Bangladesh has achieved modest success in increasing the level of contraceptive prevalence. For instance, the use of contraception has increased from 12.7 percent in 1979 to over 25 percent in 1985 [1]. Besides government efforts, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are also fairly active all over Bangladesh. According to surveys conducted at various times, the acceptance of the injectable method was not common and barely less than one
percent were using this method at the time of the 1985 contraceptive Prevalence Survey(CPS) [1].
