The Implementation of the Maternity Benefit Act in India

Abstract

The present study engages in understanding the enforcement of the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017 in India while focusing on the status of the enforcement of the act, implementation challenges and implications of the legislation on women’s employment. The study seeks to identify best practices and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness of maternity benefit policies. The findings of the study emphasise on the need for better implementation and monitoring mechanisms for ensuring maternity benefits uniformly across the country.
